In some cases, such as small claims, it is not usually possible to recover costs from the other side and you will have to bear your own legal fees.

You are usually able to recover your costs if you are successful at Court, but these are almost never at 100% and usually between 60-70% of your costs. You will therefore have to bear the difference between your fees and the amount awarded by the Court.

The court fee is based on the amount you’re claiming, plus any interest.

There are usually no other disbursements on cases apart from the ones listed above. Court fees do not have a VAT element. Our fees and counsels fees do at a rate of currently 20%. Disbursements are case specific and we can discuss this one we know what your case is about.
If we have to issue a statutory demand for a debt claim we will charge a one of fee of £750 plus VAT including personal service by a process or equivalent for issuing the demand.
